The Capital District Clean Communities Coalition  periodically receives notification from the US Department of Energy (USDOE) and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) about funding opportunities for Alternative Fueled Vehicles, Fueling Infrastructure and Research.  Links will be provided below for more information about these opportunities.

1. NYSERDA has released Program Opportunity Notice 1554.  This PON seeks  to improve transportation corridor efficiencies with the goal of developing and/or demonstrating strategies and enabling commercial technologies that have the potential of improving the energy efficiency of the existing multi-modal transportation system in New York State. Proposals are due September 17, 2009.

2. NYSERDA RFP 1613 provides funding statewide for the installation of energy conservation measures including: energy efficiency, renewable energy, and clean fleet projects. This is a NYSERDA program, funded by ARRA money from the DOE—$74 million is available statewide. Municipal governments, public K-12 schools, public universities or colleges, public and private hospitals, and not-for-profits (501c3’s) are eligible to apply. For transportation projects, there’s funding available for alternative fuel vehicles (CNG, propane, hybrid, electric, etc.), alt-fuel infrastructure, and idling reduction technologies like coolant heaters. The turnaround time is quick—the first round of applications are due August 24, but there will be additional rounds if there is still money available. For transportation projects, the opportunity offers 75% of the incremental cost of AFVs or 75% of the cost of idling reduction or infrastructure projects.  First Round Proposals are due August 24, 2009.
